==History==
In the 18th century Tetton was owned by the Dyke family, which also had seats at Holnicote and Pixton in Somerset. In 1745 Elizabeth Dyke, daughter and heiress of Thomas Dyke, became the wife of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 7th Baronet (1722–1785), of Killerton in Devon and Petherton in Somerset,〔Lauder, Rosemary, Devon Families, Tiverton, 2002, p.12, Acland of Columb John〕 to which family the Dyke estates then passed. It was held by the Acland family for only one generation.〔Lauder, Rosemary, Devon Families, Tiverton, 2002, p.12, Acland of Columb John〕 In 1796 Tetton and Pixton passed to Henry George Herbert, 2nd Earl of Carnarvon, as part of the marriage settlement on his marriage to Elizabeth "Kitty" Acland,〔Lauder, p.13〕 daughter of John Dyke Acland (1746-1778) and of Lady Harriet Acland (1750-1815). Dyke Acland was a younger son of the 7th Baronet by his marriage to Elizabeth Dyke, and was the father of Sir John Dyke Acland, 8th Baronet (d. 1785).〔Vivian, Lt. Col. J. L., (Ed.), ''The Visitation of the County of Devon: Comprising the Heralds' Visitations of 1531, 1564 & 1620'' (Exeter, 1895), p. 5, pedigree of Acland.〕 Lady Harriet Acland, a daughter of Stephen Fox-Strangways, 1st Earl of Ilchester, died at Tetton in 1815.
The house was enlarged and mainly rebuilt 1924-26 by H.S. Goodhart-Rendel for H. M. Herbert.〔(Listed building text Tetton House )〕
